The origin of Matilda's Estate was an 18 acre expanse of apple orchards set in the Eden-like paradise of Denmark, Western Australia.
In the late 1980’s, Pam and Don Turnbull acquired the property, christened it Matilda’s Meadow and commenced the planting of dry grown vines, which include Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz.
Brenden Smith of West Cape Howe Wines was the first winemaker of Matilda's grapes and Matilda's wine was the first wine to have been made at West Cape Howe.
